Faculty Directorships

Directorship positions at the Appalachian Loft are available to all full-time faculty (EHRA) for summer, fall and spring semesters. Priority is given to faculty who have been with the university at least five years and to those who have supported the Loft program.

Directors of the Loft will live in this housing facility and direct operations there. Directors must have outstanding communication skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of guests. The director must have an appreciation for Appalachian’s students, faculty, staff, and campus. The person chosen for the position should be willing to facilitate group activities by obtaining current information on local events and transportation. The director must be extremely flexible, able to handle administrative duties, and coordinate maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Directors are expected to have leadership and management skills as well. 

Application Process

The Letter of Recommendation and Application Scholarly Project forms should be completed and signed by the dean and the chair of the department and should accompany the applicant’s letter of intent and CV\resume.. Completed application packet should be submited electronically to nyloft@appstate.edu by the deadline indicated on the campus email announcement.  Once all applications have been received, interviews will be scheduled.

Staff Directorships

The Office of Finance and Operations at Appalachian State University will send out an official call for staff directorship applications at the beginning of each Fall Semester. Staff (SHRA and EHRA non-faculty) directorship positions are available for full-time staff members during the winter break.

The Staff Director position at the Appalachian Loft in New York City is available to all full-time Appalachian staff (SHRA and EHRA non-faculty). A staff director is needed at the Loft during two brief periods during Winter Break, which occurs between the Fall and Spring Semesters. 

Priority is given to staff who have been with the university at least 5-years and to those who have supported the Loft program. Directors will live in and keep up the daily operations of the Loft. Directors must have outstanding communication skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of guests. The director must have appreciation for Appalachian's students, faculty, staff and alumni. The director must be extremely flexible, able to handle administrative duties, and coordinate maintenance and upkeep of the facility.

Staff members interested in applying for this position should receive written approval and recommendation from their supervisors and submit with a resume and a letter of intent electronically, to nyloft@appstate.edu by the deadline indicated on the campus email announcement.  Once all applications have been received, interviews will be scheduled.
