RESERVATIONS
  • Student Groups - Any current ASU faculty, staff or student group (affiliates) receive first priority when it comes to group reservations.  Faculty taking official student groups (10 or more) may make a reservation 15 months in advance. They must secure the reservation with a budget code. No group reservations may be made for fall and spring breaks.

Full payment is due from the group no later than two weeks prior to the arrival date.  All payments for groups will be handled through Camps and Conferences.

If a faculty advisor/professor or staff person is taking a group of 10 or more to the Loft, the students are charged $35 per person per night. The faculty/staff chaperone is charged $70 per night for the private room.  If group leaders stay in the bunk area, they do not pay.  These charges ONLY apply to Appalachian student groups.

All group members staying in the Loft must be 18 years of age or older.  Reservations will not be made for Middle School and High School groups.

  • Affiliates of ASU may make a reservation up to nine months in advance.

  • Non-Affiliates are welcome to make a reservation up to six months in advance.

Reservations may be made by calling Business Affairs at 828-262-2132, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., or emailing nyloft@appstate.edu.  Full payment is required when the reservation is made; Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

We do not keep a waiting list but do encourage you to call or email as often as you wish to check for cancellations.

When calling to make reservations it is suggested that you provide four or five different dates of interest, so that we may check all availability for you. Please include the number of people traveling in your party, and whether you prefer the bunk(s) or the private room.

No children under five years of age are allowed to stay at the Loft, and children 14 and under are welcome only during the Thanksgiving break, winter break, and summer months.

There is no discount for renting the entire Loft. The prices are firm. We have two beds reserved at all times for our student interns, who are earning credit towards graduation. The maximum amount of space that you could reserve at any given time would be 18 bunks and the private room.

  • Bunks - The Loft features two large rooms with bunk beds and one private room.  Each of the large bunk rooms has ten beds (five bunk beds). Please note that two bunk spaces are continually held for ASU students each semester who are completing internships for credit.  While we try to keep the bunk rooms separated by gender, this does not always happen; so at any time, you could be in a co-ed room.   Each of those rooms has a large bathroom with two sinks, two showers, and two commodes.  There is a half-bath that is accessed from the hallway.  There is a full kitchenliving room and computer area for your use.

  • Private Room - There is one private room that can sleep up to four people.  It has twin beds and a pull-out queen sleeper sofa.  There is a private, full bathroom in the suite and a television. This is the only TV in the Loft.
